Massage therapy is a comprehensive intervention involving a range of techniques to manipulate the soft tissues and joints of the body. The purpose of massage therapy is to prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain. It is a clinically-oriented health option that achieves undeniable results in the relief of an array of discomforts stemming from stress, muscular overuse and many chronic pain syndromes. We also specialize in pregnancy massage and active release therapy.

FAQ

I’ve never had a Massage before. Does it hurt? Massage is commonly used to release tension in the muscles. Most patients find it a relaxing therapeutic experience.

Do I need to fully undress? You need to undress to your comfort level in the areas you would like massaged. Most patients undress to their underwear. During a session you will be fully covered with a table sheet/blanket, only the area of your body that is being worked on is uncovered. Before and after the session, you will undress and dress in complete privacy.

Are your massages different than a spa? Our Massage Therapists are highly trained and clinical focused looking to relax and release muscle tension . They will often educate you on how to deal with problem areas.

What are the benefits of Massage Therapy? With professional massage therapy you can experience relief from muscular tension and pain, receive increased range of motion and a reduction of mental stress levels. Massage is a natural healing process that can deliver both physical and emotional benefits.

Do your Therapist work with my Physiotherapist? All appointments are properly charted and it is very common for Massage and Physio to work together to improve any problem areas and injuries.

Will I experience muscle soreness following a Massage Therapy treatment? Most people feel very relaxed, and often experience significant relief from aches, pains and stress after a massage session. Some people, especially those who require deep-tissue massage, experience mild muscle soreness which may last a day or two. Once the soreness is gone, they often notice heightened energy levels and an increased range of motion.

Do you offer Massage gift certificates? Yes! A therapeutic massage is a great way to show someone how much you care. For details please call or visit us to purchase a gift certificate.

Are your Therapists 2200 hour program certified and covered with my extended benefits? Most extended healthcare plans include massage therapy and all of our Massage Therapists are graduates of the 2200 hour certification program. In Alberta the number of hours you need to practice is 250. Massage Therapy programs range from 250 to 2,200 hours in Alberta. A number of extended health insurance companies have changed their benefit policies to only cover practitioners who have taken a 2,200 hour course as a way to differentiate between therapeutic massage and relaxation massage.

Can I get a Massage if I'm pregnant? Yes. Our Massage Therapists are trained in prenatal massage. Please be sure to note in your paper work and notify the therapist if you are or may be pregnant. Note that due to risks, we do not provide massages during the first trimester.
